The mission of this website & blog is that no parent (or any loved one) should ever suffer from the loss and devastation of child’s suicide as a result of gun access in the child’s very own home. It is dedicated to the memories of Quinn Kelly and Sean Kelly.
This blog was established on January 27, 2025 by Jill Schmieg, a powerhouse marketer, logistics industry veteran and non-profit advocate. After witnessing the pain and sadness of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, FL in 2018, Jill started following Moms Demand Action (https://momsdemandaction.org/), in a quest to become more educated and informed about the conditions and circumstances that are creating a rapid rise in violence and mental illness in the nation’s youth. Recognizing that immediate and easy access to firearms is a primary risk factor for youth struggling with mental illness, Jill has become a fierce advocate for common sense gun laws. In 2024, gun violence struck even closer to home for Jill, when a fellow North Naples PTO mom and friend suffered the loss of, not one, but two teenage sons. Both sons died through fatal, self-inflicted gun shot wounds, 11 months apart.
In 2015, Jill founded Sol de Naples Marketing, a B2B Marketing Services Firm based in Naples, Florida, with the distinct goal of giving back to the industries and communities where she lives and works. In addition to helping her clients grow their businesses, Jill commits 20% of her professional time and talents pro-bono to advancing the mission of non-profits in the greater Naples area and across the country.
